Individual Leadership Transformations: Clarity, Confidence, Impact
This article is part 1 of our new regular blog series where we celebrate individual leadership transformations (ILTs) and highlight key breakthroughs. This article features mature leaders who came to us with different requests – from articulation of strengths and understanding of gaps, to shaping long-term goals and choosing wisely when at a career crossroads.
The Challenge
The weight of big decisions, the constant pressure to perform, and the relentless drive to deliver on a bold vision amidst major industry disruptions can leave even the most driven leaders feeling stretched thin.
Ambition and clarity about the mission are rarely the issue. But in the whirlwind of demands, it’s easy to lose sight of how to move forward or what’s truly holding you back.
Our Approach
When leaders come to us for 1:1 coaching, they’re looking for targeted conversations that create immediate impact. They want to cut through the noise, challenge unhelpful patterns, and uncover new ways of thinking – quickly and effectively.
Through focussed dialogue, deep reflection, and reframing challenges, they reconnect with what truly matters and take ownership of their growth and transformation.
The impact is profound: confusion that turns to clarity, hesitation transformed into confidence, and obstacles giving way to opportunities. Time and again, we’ve seen it – breakthroughs often begin with one timely, insightful conversation.
Transformations

From Supportive to High-Impact Leadership
Dan Cathie, CEO and Co-Founder of Silveray, possesses a strong natural desire for continuous learning and personal development. He entered coaching seeking to understand and articulate the key strengths that differentiate him as a leader, deepen self-awareness and address gaps that are harder to spot when outcomes are generally positive.
Known for his people-first approach, Dan realised through coaching that his drive to make everyone happy sometimes diluted business focus.
Working with his coach, he reframed his leadership lens: from “How can I make people happy?” to “How can our people thrive and succeed?”. This subtle but powerful shift reshaped how he set expectations, led meetings, and held others accountable.
“I used to end meetings asking, ‘Is everyone happy?’ Now I ask, ‘Is everything set for success?’ That shift alone transformed my leadership focus.”
Still unwaveringly focussed on empowering his team, Dan’s new mindset has brought sharper alignment between empathy and execution — driving stronger business outcomes.

Unlocking Full Potential at a Career Crossroads
At a pivotal point of career transformation, L.R. joined the Individual Leadership Transformation programme to evaluate her options and plan her next step. Coaching helped her uncover all of her key strengths and align decisions with her long-term leadership aspirations.
“Coaching helped me understand my full potential and the opportunities I should take to fulfil it — potential I was too shy to recognise without a coach,” L. explains. “I felt fully supported and empowered to make the right decision for me, thinking not only about my current position but also my future growth as a leader.”
A breakthrough came when she stepped back and saw the complete picture. “In coaching, we assessed all the different alternatives, including the option of staying where I am and becoming a leader in my current role. It was very objective and essential for seeing the big picture.”
L. highlights the partnership with Katy as a defining factor in her growth: “Katy’s approach is gentle but firm. She gets to the real heart of the discussion. It felt like a powerful collaboration — I know I’ll be coming back to Horizon 37.”
Redefining Value and Intentional Leadership
Shilpy Singh’s career has been defined by rapid growth and impact. After being propelled into senior leadership roles, including as an Associate Partner at McKinsey and later a senior executive at KPN in Amsterdam, she joined the ILT programme twice — first in 2018 and again in 2024.
In her latest engagement, Shilpy was intent on shaping the next 20 years of her career with purpose and precision. Through coaching, she examined her strengths, clarified her personal value proposition, and worked to dismantle self-limiting beliefs about her potential impact.
The coaching unlocked something unexpected: a willingness to experiment. “I’m now working as a COO in an early-stage startup — something I hadn’t considered before. The process made me more open to experimentation and taking risks in ways I’ve never done before.” Taking risks is scary, but she’s doing it anyway. “Change and risk comfort came really gradually, and at some point you just realise you’re somewhere you didn’t see coming.”
Shilpy now makes intentional choices — choices that help her achieve her long-term goals.
“I want challenge, great people, and to help take products from idea to delivery. Coaching helped me move from having a lot of questions to knowing what I want and how to get there. It’s not about how others perceive me anymore; it’s about the problem we’re all trying to solve, together.”
Today, Shilpy approaches leadership with renewed clarity — focussed on purpose, experimentation, and long-term impact.
